Our CEO Ian Lloyd was one of the market leaders featured in Insurance Post’s MGAs Review of the Year 2025. He got to share his highlights and disappointments from our year of milestones, market challenges, and continued confidence in the MGA model.
There were so many highlights and achievements in 2025, but when asked to narrow it down, Ian decided on our successful brand refresh: ‘In May, we proudly unveiled our fresh new brand identity, an evolution that reflects our commitment to innovation while staying true to our core values’.
Of course, he couldn’t forget that this year, we hit a major milestone as a business: ‘We also celebrated our birthday. Twenty years of effortless underwriting, a testament to the trust and consistency we’ve built with our partners over the last two decades.’ We are especially proud that we have kept the same ethos across the years, prioritising our partners, and our clients, keeping people at the centre of what we do.
When asked about the year’s biggest disappointment, Ian shared: ‘We were disappointed to have to abandon a major integration between our underwriting platform, Quota, and a leading broker software provider due to their unexpected exit from the UK market.’ In such a volatile market, we were proud to recover quickly and continue to offer an exceptional service despite the change.
Looking across the wider MGA sector, Ian identified growing recognition and resilience as the most positive developments of 2025. ‘MGAs have been increasingly recognised as a vital force in the insurance ecosystem,’ he shared, going on to note ‘many carriers boosted their capacity allocations, demonstrating their increased confidence in the MGA model.’
He continued, ‘Despite ongoing market challenge, the sector has proved its resilience. We have seen a clear trend towards specialty lines, global growth, and Insurtech collaboration.’ These factors have demonstrated that MGAs are essential to the future of insurance, and we are excited to see how the sector continues to grow.
Finally, reflecting on what he would do with hindsight, if he could travel back to 1st January 2025, Ian took a cautionary path: ‘I’d warn myself to be better prepared for how quickly the market softened.’ Iprism has remained strong, adapting pricing, and tightening our underwriting discipline and of course, supporting our broker partners, but even so, Ian concluded with a reminder to stay vigilant: ‘it was a sharp reminder of how fast conditions can change.’
