“What a year it’s been since we launched our refreshed Private Clients offering in the Summer of 2020. 

The market has changed under the cloud of Covid-19 and with more people staying in their homes than ever before, we have noticed a definite shift in the volume and type of claim being made by our clients.  

“Stay home, save lives” was one of the government’s mottos last year, and we believe that this advice has not only been crucial in slowing the spread of the disease, but also played a major role in reducing the frequency and severity of theft and escape of water (EOW) claims. 

With more people staying in all day and not being able to go on holiday, there have been less chances for opportunistic thieves to enter vacant homes.  People have also had the opportunity to spot leaks in their property quickly, and act on them before they turn into major claims. 

On the flipside, we have seen more accidental damage and fire claims, linked to greater activity within the property.  

Our team continue to receive an increased number of calls from brokers working from their new home offices, so it looks like working from home is a trend that looks set to continue for many people. 

An exciting time

For iprism, it’s been an exciting year for the Private Clients team who have continued to demonstrate great resilience and professionalism during a challenging 12 months.

In September we introduced our third new Private Clients product.  Holiday Home covers clients’ private or commercial holiday units as well as contents and sports equipment.  Supported by a straightforward question set and quick turnaround, the product was well received by the market. 

A couple of months later, in November, we welcomed Daisy Harper to the Private Clients team as Underwriting Assistant.  Daisy has quickly become an integral part of the team, handling broker enquiries with enthusiasm and utmost professionalism. 

Rising to the challenge

Despite the challenges of the last year, I’ve been really proud of how well the team has adapted to working from home, continuing to provide exceptional service to our brokers.  Whether via telephone, live chat or email, we’ve been ready to respond to our brokers when they need us; in fact, our stats show that 90% of enquiries to the Private Clients team are dealt within 4 hours or less, but in most cases it’s within the hour."
