Chief Technology Officer
Coming from a technical background; I have a BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering.
I previously worked for the BBC, which was my first job out of university. After that I went on to work for Micrologic UK where I was Technical Director; which ultimately led on to starting work at iprism.
I’ve been with iprism since the very beginning, having joined the start up in 2006 to design and build our bespoke trading platform. I’ve been leading the development and continuing product improvements ever since.
I love a long walk in historic countryside; with hearty real ale at the end! I actually accidently started the Harwich Sausage Festival in 2011.
An insurance specialist I’ve done more insurance exams than I care to count; I’ve been ACII qualified for over 30 years, whilst maintaining Chartered Insurer status.
I’ve been with iprism for over 10 years, overseeing underwriting and continued product development. I primarily look after Policy Wordings, Endorsements and continued mentoring for underwriting staff.
Previously, I spent 20 years as an underwriter at Commercial Union, but I started out as a broker. I’m coming up to 42 years in the industry with no plans of stopping!
I love my classic cars and continue to build my collection. I once discovered I am a distance relative to Jessie James; maybe he loved insurance too?
Head of Operations
I joined iprism in March 2013 and became operations manager in January 2016, and I am responsible for the effective operation of the iprism sales, service and underwriting teams.
I am in constant communication with insurer partners and assist with ongoing product development as well as being involved with Management Information, business reports and insurer bordereaux.
I joined iprism from Towergate Underwriting where I worked as a commercial combined underwriter. I started my career with Devitt Insurance Services, at the time, a division of RBS Insurance.
An active member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, I am continuing my studies and have ambitions of achieving ACII.
In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and family and in spite of being a long-suffering West Ham fan, still have a love for football.
Mastermind specialist subject: Back to the Future.
After leaving college in 2000, I started work in the finance department of a Japanese travel firm. My journey into the insurance world began in 2003 when I joined the Home and Legacy finance team completing my accounting qualifications along the way.
In 2010 I joined iprism as Finance Manager and day to day I look after the team responsible for credit control, collecting settlements from brokers and providing insurers with payment of bordereaux as well as preparing statements and routine reporting, generally trying to ensure a smooth operation.
Outside of work, I love to educate my son on the intricate and innovative world of motorsport, though being only 2 years old he’s more interested in simply pointing out every car that goes by. I am a keen runner and often disappear early in the morning or late evening to train for obstacle races in muddy environments in far flung places, much to the consternation of my long suffering wife.
As a family, we enjoy travelling, in particular to Japan, where we got married on the gorgeous island of Miyajima in Hiroshima. After the reception we had a marathon session of that old Japanese favourite of karaoke until the small hours. I certainly enjoyed serenading everyone but I’m not so sure that the feeling was mutual. Unfortunately, I definitely do not have the voice of an angel.
